1. Start with a clean, dry tail.
Before bagging, make sure your horse’s tail is clean and completely dry. Gently brush through to remove tangles, dirt, or debris.
2. Braid your horse’s tail.
Divide the tail into three equal sections and braid it just below the tailbone. Continue until you’re about an inch from the bottom, then secure the braid with a soft, non-damaging band — like a human hair tie or wrap.
3. Slide the braid into the tail bag.
Gently tuck the entire braid into the bag, making sure it fits smoothly without bunching or folding.
4. Secure the tail bag.
Use the bag’s built-in ties to fasten it through the braid (not around the tailbone) to avoid putting pressure on sensitive tissue. Tie it snugly, but not too tight.
5. Check and rebag regularly.
To keep the tail healthy and clean, remove the bag every few days. Check for dirt, irritation, or tangles. Rebraid and rebag as needed.
