How To Use Your Tail Bag

Keep your horse’s tail clean, healthy, and protected with these five easy steps.

Start with a clean, dry tail
Brush and detangle the tail completely to remove debris, knots, or moisture. Wash and allow the tail to dry if necessary. 

Braid the tail
For long tails, a loose braid can help reduce breakage. Starting at the base of the tail, braid loosely.

Slide the tail into the bag
Gather the tail and place it into the open bag, aligning the tip near the bottom.

Secure the ties through the braid
Passing the ties through the braid at the base of the tail, secure in place. 

Check regularly
Remove the bag every few days to check for debris, tangles, or irritation. Re-braid and reapply as needed.
