How does CattlActive® work?

CattlActive® is an all-natural prebiotic supplement made from a proprietary blend of plant extracts. It promotes a healthy, neutral rumen pH to support the growth and stability of beneficial microbes. These microbes play a key role in breaking down feed and converting nutrients into energy — essential for digestion, immunity, and overall health in cattle.

What are the benefits of using CattlActive®?

CattlActive® offers a range of benefits, including:

  • Supports a neutral rumen pH to encourage healthy microbial populations
  • Helps maintain immune function by supporting the gut
  • Promotes feed and water intake — even under stress (e.g., weather changes, transportation, or branding)
  • Available in liquid, tub, and pellet/granular forms to suit different operations

Can CattlActive® be used in all types of cattle?

Yes! CattlActive® is safe for all classes of cattle — from newborn calves and pregnant cows to breeding bulls and finishing beef cattle.

Is CattlActive® safe for cattle raised for meat?

Absolutely. CattlActive® contains no drugs or withdrawal period, making it safe for animals intended for human consumption.

Does CattlActive® contain probiotics?

No. CattlActive® is a prebiotic — not a probiotic. Instead of adding live bacteria, it supports the environment that allows beneficial rumen microbes to thrive. A balanced rumen pH helps prevent the die-off of good bacteria and promotes long-term digestive health.

What’s the difference between a prebiotic and a probiotic?

Prebiotics are partially or non-digestible feed ingredients that serve as food for beneficial microbes. Unlike probiotics (which introduce live bacteria), prebiotics help the existing “good bugs” in the rumen grow and thrive — supporting a healthy microbial balance.

What is SARA and why does it matter?

SARA stands for Sub-Acute Ruminal Acidosis, a metabolic condition that occurs when the rumen becomes too acidic (pH below 5.8). It can reduce feed and water intake, increase heart and respiratory rates, and negatively impact performance. CattlActive® helps buffer rumen pH to reduce the risk of SARA.

What is heat stress in cattle?

Heat stress happens when a cow can’t release enough body heat to stay cool — often during hot, humid conditions or in poorly ventilated spaces. It can lead to reduced feed intake, poor weight gain, and even heat-related illness. Supporting hydration and gut health with products like CattlActive® can help during extreme temperatures.

What causes calf scours?

Scours in calves can be caused by both infectious and non-infectious factors:

Infectious causes

  • Viruses: IBR, BVD, rotavirus, coronavirus
  • Bacteria: E. coli (most common), salmonella, clostridium
  • Protozoa: coccidia, cryptosporidium

Non-infectious causes

  • Poor colostrum quality or quantity
  • Inadequate cow nutrition during pregnancy
  • Stress from cold, heat, or overcrowding
  • Weakness at birth or delayed nursing
